Capt. Mike Able
You could say I was born to fish. Following in the footsteps of my dad, who has owned and operated Haddrell's Point Tackle in Charleston since I was a kid, I grew up fishing every chance I got. My dad had me out on the water before I could even walk, and I won my first tournament when I was just three years old. This tournament win sealed the deal: I was addicted to fishing. I haven't done too many tournaments since I was young, but I do fish the “Lowcountry Red-Trout Tournament” annually. The Red-Trout benefits those with cystic fibrosis, so not only does it provide a lot of fun and great sportsmanship, but it's for a great cause, too.
My dad taught me everything I know, and I feel lucky to have learned so much from him. I've always enjoyed fishing with others and teaching them how to do things, so I decided to become a guide so I'd have the opportunity to share the know-how that my dad shared with me with anyone wanting to learn. I've been guiding since the Fall of 2005 and absolutely love it. Whether I'm teaching a first-timer the basics or fishing alongside an experienced angler, it's always a ton of fun. Kids always add to the experience, and I encourage you to bring them along, too.
When I'm not working at the tackle shop, in class, or guiding, I'm fishing for fun. My dog, Riley, enjoys joining me on adventures, too.

I look forward to taking you on the fishing trip of a lifetime!
Tight lines and calm seas,
